statement of faith

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testament, are the inspired Word of God, without error in its original manuscripts, fully revealing God’s plan of salvation for humanity. The Bible is our supreme authority in faith and life.

(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21)

GOD

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

(Genesis 1:1, 26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 3; John 4:24; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 1:20; Ephesians 4:5-6; 2 Cor. 13:14)

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures.  Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He presently ministers as our High Priest and Advocate.

(Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13)

MAN

We believe man was created in the image of God but chose to sin and thereby incurred to himself not only physical death, but also spiritual and eternal death.  As a result, all human beings are born with a sinful nature, we are dead in our sins and under the just condemnation of God.

(Genesis 1:26-27, 3:1-24; Romans 3:25; Romans 5:12-18; 1 John 1:8)

SALVATION

We believe the Lord Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; that He rose victorious from the grave on the third day; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. We believe all who come by grace through faith to accept the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.

(Isaiah 53; Matthew 20:28, 28:6; John 1:12-13, 3:3,5,16; Romans 3:24-26, 5:1, 19:9; 1 Cor. 15:3,14; 2 Cor. 5:51; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 2:2)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the eternal third person of the Trinity, fully divine. The Holy Spirit works to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age He convicts of sin, regenerates the believing sinner, indwells, guides, instructs and empowers the believer for godly living, service and for gospel witness.

(Matt. 28:19; Lk. 3:21-22;  Jn. 3:5-6; Acts 1:8; Rom. 15:16; 1 Cor. 2:10, 12:4-11; 2 Cor. 3:18, 13:14; Eph. 4:11-16)

THE RETURN OF CHRIST

We believe in the personal, visible and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the blessed hope of the Christian church.

(Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Titus 2:13)

THE RESURRECTION

In the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

(John 5:28-29; 1 Cor. 15; 2 Cor. 5:10; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:4-6; Revelation 20:11-15)

BAPTISM

We believe water baptism by immersion is the biblical testimony of the professing believer in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

(Acts 2:28-41, 47, 8:36-40, 10:47, 18:8; Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 6:3-4)

THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe those who partake of the Lord's Supper should be born again believers, walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(Acts 2:42-46; 1 CorINTHIANS 11:23-29)

Within our commitment to the gospel and foundational truths of historical biblical Christianity, we affirm the Biblical Convictions of the Crossway Network, which will align us with many other local churches but also graciously distinguish us from others.
